Today took about 5 mins to transfer files from dev server to live server, that's all it takes. I personally didn't have to download anything at all.

If you have a decent internet connection most of the time you will get the update quickly nevertheless, not to mention you could avoid that whole process by just getting the devs. Well ofcourse download speed is slow on patch day when everyone else is downloading. This meant that when 1.43 rolled around all I was left with was a small 30 MB update. This time around for example, the last time I ran the dev server launcher was the day before the 1.43 update. This then saves you from having to do the one massive download each time a majour update is released. Once you have a dev server, all you need to do is run the dev server launcher a couple of times per month to collect all the progressive updates as they happen. Just do a quick search on youtube for "War Thunder dev server" and you'll find plenty of tutorial videos on how to create one, and what you need to do when a major update is released to change your dev server back to "production" (the live game server). It's very easy to do (and I am definitely not a PC whiz) Every time we have a major update, we see an explosion of posts/threads from people annoyed at the massive download required and/or slow download speeds.Īs is said pretty much every time, you could all save yourself a lot of grief if you create yourself a dev server.
